Million Paws walk this Sunday

This Sunday Million Paws walk is back back on this Sunday, to raise money for RSPCA, who look after 41,000 animals every year.

Meet at Muddies Playground, on the Esplanade, with your pooch or family moggy. You can register online or from 7:30am on the day. The walk starts at 9:30am

It's an opportunity for you and your furry or feathered friends, to take part in a healthy walk, and mingle with other pet owners. Competitions will be held for the best dressed and owner look-a-like. There'll also be stalls and animal demonstrations, sausage sizzle, drinks and give-aways.

If you pre-register is $12 for adults and $6 for children under 16, or a family pass is $28

Contact Lyn Waters at the RSPCA on 4055 1487

Even at 0930 start, this time is too hot for most dogs.

I did the walk about 2 years ago and my young dog had to stop as he was suffering heat stress. I almost had to carry him back to the car.

I am sure many others including me and my 2 furries, are not prepared to subject them to heat stress.

It would seem that the time is set to suit the humans and not man's best friend.
