Good time flies, like the good ol days

Former “Fireflies” members: Alan and Josie Hull, Barry Daniel and Graham Hull.
Josie and Alan Hull and Barry Daniel are former Fireflies band members, known to legions of Far Northerners. They have formed a new band, Goodtime Flies, with Graham Hull joining in as drummer.

Back in the 1960s and 1970s, The Fireflies played to packed dance halls as well as winning the Cairns section of Hoadley’s Battle of the Sounds for three consecutive years.

This Saturday locals will have another chance to listen and dance to their favourite band, when Goodtime Flies plays at the Cairns RSL. The cabaret will raise funds for Crusaders for a Cure, one of the Relay for Life teams and profits will go to the Cancer Council.

Carmel Borgo, the team leader of “Crusaders for a Cure” said her team was hoping the fans of the old 'Fireflies' would come out in force and relive the 'good old times.'
“We’re thrilled to have the band playing for us” Carmel said. “The Fireflies were such a part of our youth that they are regarded today with great affection and sentiment.”
Guest artists will be Katie Daniel, Chazlyn Morrissey and Miss Miah.
