Last evening the Cairns Underwater Film Festival was held at the Civic Theatre, presenting winners of the 36th World Festival of Underwater Films, from France, along with local photographers' winning snaps.
Cairns Post online editor Simon Crerar, caught this image from the event (not the photo, just the presentation!) The stunning Māori Wrasse, was one of the finalists of the Cairns photo competition, presented by Bob Halstead. Entries were from photos taken in North Queensland waters over the last two years. HABA, Tusa, ProDive and Mike Ball, were among the sponsors of the event.
You can still grab a ticket online for tonight's final presentation.

The "winning" photo has been obviously photoshopped. These are supposed to be "nature" photos. The contest shouldn't allow phony, manipulated photos.
how has it obviously been photoshopped? you can easily get this effect by getting under your underwater subject and shooting into the light...
