Cairns Regional Council Mayor is off to Melbourne this evening, to participate in the SBS current affairs programme Insight, hosted by Gold Walkley journalist, Jenny Brocke.
Tonight's theme is about the risk of extreme weather in Australia, and looks at how this will affect where we live.
"It’s going to look at the Victorian bushfire situation and also other parts of the country that are vulnerable to extreme weather events such as the Tropics," Val told CairnsBlog.
"I don't know how much of a say I'll get, but it should be an interesting experience."
The show is filmed live and starts at 7.30pm this evening.
There is still no news when the SBS-commissioned About Women program will screen, that followed Val's quest to become the first female mayor of Cairns last March.
