"Planing and Infrustructure for a growing Cairns" is the theme at a luncheon debate organised by Engineers Australia. This member's event will be held at the Cairns Coloinial Club. Contact Margie on 4031 3199

FRIDAY 22nd FEBRUARY
The Cairns Chamber of Commerce and the Cairns Business Women's Club have joined forces for the Mayoral debate. This will be held in the Grand Ballroom at the Cairns International, next Friday. It is a 12 midday to 2pm luncheon. Tickets are $44/$55 members & guests/non-members. You can book via the CBWC or with the Chamber.

As in 2004, this was an important function in the election race, and may well be the only one where you will see both mayoral candidates on the same stage. This makes it difficult for the general population to engage and meet those that are proposing to run our city.

This will be an interesting evening, and all new Division 8 candidates are expected to participate. It was the Brothers Leagues Club Mayoral Debate in 2000 where Byrne infamously did not commit to staying in Cairns if he were to not win the election. This showed his true colours, in that he is in it for the prestige and the power, not for a deep love for this area.

He can be exposed at these debates, as most/all mainstream media should also be there.

Get your questions ready and make him squirm.

$55 a ticket. Yeah, right, and most of us can afford that too, especially when we have our RATES notices to pay.
