A buskers festival - just what we need

If you haven't already heard, the Cairns Buskers Festival is just around the corner.

It kicks off next Wednesday 22nd, and runs until 26th September.

Festival director Melinda Norris says it's time to stoke up your sense of humour and dive down the back of the couch for those handfuls of loose change.

"Come and experience a world of comedy, madness and mayhem as the hottest acts from Australia and around the world hit the streets of Cairns," Melinda Norris says. "This year's festival there'll be two extra days, 40+ shows, three new venues - it just gets bigger and better every year."

Special events in the program this year include Circus Under the Stars on the Esplanade foreshore and the Crack Up Comedy and cabaret club at the Cape York Hotel.

Venue include City Place, Esplanade Lagoon lawn area, Stockland, Esplande Plaza, Rusty's Market, Cape York Hotel, and Rydges Tradewinds.

The entire festival is free, besides the opening night night spectacular - The One Night Stand at Rydges Tradewinds. It features one-off performances by local and touring artists, not to be seen again at festival so this really is the night not to miss! (even if it is a one-night-stand, we will still make you feel special).
