In final results that will no doubt be questioned by a re-count, Kirsten Lesina now has a 14 vote lead ahead of sitting Councillor Paul Freebody in Division 4.
Nancy Lanskey, in the southern Division 2, has pulled ahead of Jeff Martinuzzi by 20 votes, after the final preferences were counted this afternoon.

Freebody call for a recount?
Surely not.
"You're better than that, bro"
Freebody should definatley call for a recount!!! Hold your head high Mr Freebody knowing that more people voted FOR you than the young and un-knowledgable 21yr old. If only it wasnt for preferences.... Our division is going to go down hill fast. What has this town done? Cairns will be regretting the results of this whole election for a long time to come.
I still don't understand preferences. Should be a vote 1 only imho.
Hey, I was eager to vote for a young lady without experience in preference to the alternative.
I think Freebody should take a long hard look at himself and ask himself why he didn't romp it in with the FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) surrounding the new candidate.
Everyone is new at a job at some time in their working careers, I still hope that we get to see the young lady have a go at proving herself.
i thought freebody was the young lady.
re: anonymous 2 - haaaaahahaha!
you're a knob.
Congratulations young Kirsten!! Don't listen to mumblings from middle aged grumpy, sour old farts who have missed their chances. Ross Parisi, a long time Councillor with the Mulgrave Shire Council was a youthful, energetic 23 when first elected. Oh happy day!
Hey anonymous 2, Cairns WAS regretting the outcome of the 2004 election, thats why they voted out Byrne and all sitting unity members. There will be no regrets this time mate. Cairns is about to enter a golden age.
Well done to Nancy Lansky.
