Georgina Beyer was the world’s first transsexual MP and she did it all in little ol New Zealand.
After 12 years serving in politics, a major feature film is being planned on her life. She will however not seek to be cast in the film.
Beyer was a mayor in a small rural town north of Wellington, and then elected as a Labour list MP, before retiring late last year.
She was famously quoted once as saying in her valedictory speech to Parliament, 'This was the stallion that became a gelding, and now she's a mayor.' I suppose I do have to say that I have now found myself to be a Member! So I have come full circle, so to speak."

It's insulting to both the wider community and her that she only reaches notoriety because of her sexuality / sex change.
Sexuality isn't personality.
An interesting story, nonetheless.
