Cairns Reef Casino - a drug and gang hideaway

According to leaked Crime and Misconduct Commission papers, a gang of wealthy criminals from the southern states that have links with mafia cocaine cartels, and have used Cairns' Reef Casino for their activities.

The Australian reports that nightclubs that were used for cocaine parties and to house special gangster rooms providing drugs and prostitutes to local criminals.

"The group was recorded gambling thousands of dollars at the Reef Casino in Cairns, using high-priced callgirls on the Gold Coast and associating with senior members of some of Australia's most dangerous bikie gangsters," the reports says.

"At one establishment they regularly frequented, the suspects were so notorious that their bar table became known as 'the mafia table' and was where they held 'white parties' with strippers in special 'gangster' rooms."

The CMC confirmed that the project was undertaken but would not discuss any operational details.
