Crime Stoppers update

Property theft, Mossman:
Mossman police have arrested and charged a 15-year-old boy after a spate of thefts from the Mossman Gorge and Hippy water hole area over recent months, in which personal property such as mobile phones, wallets and keys were allegedly stolen. The youth was charged with six counts of unlawfully entering a vehicle with intent to steal; 16 counts of stealing and one count of receiving tainted property. The youth will be dealt with under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.

Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Cairns:
A 41-year-old Redlynch woman was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle after an incident at Kamerunga on October 25. Police allege the woman drove a vehicle dangerously in a conservation park area. The woman is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on December 23, where she also faces a charge of unlawful stalking.

Youth charged with graffiti offences, Cairns:
Detectives from the Cairns Child Protection and Investigation Unit have charged a 14-year-old Woree boy with four counts of wilful damage as part of an ongoing operation targeting graffiti vandalism. The charges relate to alleged damage caused to a number of council signs and utilities throughout the Cairns area. The youth will be dealt with under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.

Break and enter offence, Portsmith:
Cairns police are investigating a break and enter offence that occurred at a Portsmith construction site over the week-end. Thieves forced entry to a work shed at the Redden Street site and stole a quantity of tools. Investigations are continuing into the incident.

Robbery at North Cairns:
Police are investigating the theft of a camera from a tourist at North Cairns. The 28-year-old man from NSW was walking along McKenzie Street when a male pushed him from behind and stole his camera from his hand. The offender then ran off along Digger Street. Police investigations are continuing.

Vehicle stolen and burnt, Edmonton:
Police from the Edmonton Criminal Investigation Branch are investigating the theft and arson of a Toyota Hilux utility from outside the Hambledon Hotel on Sunday night. The vehicle was stolen some time between 9.15pm and 7.00am on Monday. It was later located on Page Road at Edmonton with the cabin section burnt out. A set of spotlights and an aerial had been removed from the vehicle. Police investigations are continuing.
