Good afternoon all,

Please be advised that the content of the email under the hand of Scott FORBES of Channel 7 was meant in jest and was inadvertently sent out to unintended recipients.

Hey Russ,

Thanks for the heads up on the one-eyed midget with a limp who crashed his unicycle into a croc-infested river.
We still on for a beer on Monday?

Struth, is Gavin King still alive.

It's hard to tell Bert. The results are inconclusive.

"Our Cairns media professionals hard at work".... well, where are they? Is this a trick posting?

brain-dead, but ambulatory.

Unfortunately Bert, Our Gav married a Machans Beach girl recently, so he's still very much lurking around. Nothing that a quick chomp by a speeding croc wouldn't fix. Anyone got a spare croc?
PS. glad to see there's still aa sense of humour out there in Journalist Land, even if most of the journalistas have to report crapola.

What? Gav married a Machans Girl?

Doesn't that make him an in-law of Val somehow?

Paul said...

you know, I miss Gav. I think we should have a bring back Gav rally, oh, okay he wasn't very interested in protecting the yacht club or creating an all white middle class Cairns, but still... he WAS entertaining - no one else here can say that.

I miss Gav too. Everytime i'm driving down Abbott St in my Landcruiser, and I see him cross the road to his office, I speed up, but unfortunately miss him.

I can't believe there are snobs at Holloways Beach. Snobs that like slumming?

Anyway, marrying a Machans girl makes Gavin a Columnist-in-law to Aunty Val.

We can't really have a "bring back Gav" rally 'cos he hasn't gone away. Got a better job is all. Smug bastard.

How about a "Newstime for Bozo" competition, where local journalists try to break a story by other means than (spoon feeding) a press release.

You're not wrong there crash. None of us would say Gav was "entertaining". How about rude, crude and as funny as a kick up the balls.

Paul said...

lmao - yeh, that's what I said.

Observer - he may not work in Abbott St, but that doesn't prevent us from vehicularly-challenging him in Abbot St. eh?

Bryan - I love your 'Newstime for Bozo' concept. I'd LOVE to see the current newspaper/TV journos trying to elicit some news like the oldtimers did it. Actually, like Mike does it - makes contacts, talks to them, gets their opinion & facts & info, & damn well publishes it. Not too hard, campers.

And Bryan - with Our Gav now at the 'Mail', I don't quite rightly know if he's got 'a better job'. It might pay more, but it ain't quite 'Time' or 'Vanity Fair', if you take my point. The difference between the ComPost & Courier Mail being what . . . the difference between Deb Instant Mashed Potato or the more delicious can of Creamed Corn?

Gavin King always quick to jump on the bandwagon, after it has gone past, and recycle someone else's old joke.
No wonder the Sunday Mail poached him from the Cairns Post. Right.
