Last week's poll results

It was interesting to capture the views of Blog readers over the last seven days, to see what media is followed.
ABC TV and ABC Far North radio where the clear leaders.
SBS came third, followed by Cairns Post and the Cairns Sun close behind.
At the other end of the voting, was 846AM and the local commercial TV news channels of WIN, Seven and Ten.
City Life and the new In Touch In Business mags also featured in readers lists.
Not too many surprises overall.
I've just loaded this week's poll and ask, based on the first three months of the new Mayor's performance, who you would vote for in the next 2012 local body Council election.
Vote early. Vote often.

`It's no wonder City Life and In Touch are at the bottom of the pack. We routinely get our delivery of City Life sometime near the middle of the month, after published events have already occurred. And In Touch? What a waste of trees this rag is - giant type trying to fill the pages with drivel, surrounded by gaudy ads for things few need and fewer still can afford. Danae Jones is a hack.

I would have thought if there was a theme here it was that niche publications do quite well among an online readership compared to the mainstream media when total distribution figures are considered? Maybe that should be expected?

City Life has faded badly as people get sick of reading just the same thing every month and glossy photos of wankers at Villa Romana.

APN bought this at a peak I suspect.

City Life has turned into an ego trip for it's advertisers and the so called expert commentators. It is an irrelevant publication. I have always wondered how In Touch remains in touch. It is a costly publication with a very limited audience many of whom would also look at City Life to see if they are featured in the about town section.

Cairns Life would be unaware that this blog exists! They wouldn't have a clue about what really goes on in Cairns and environs, nor would they have much interest. Like most of today's poor excuse for media, they're only interested in tittle tattle, minutiae and all things superficial.

Gotta love the armchair critics that sit at home reflecting on the life that passed them over while others go out and seek their dreams. I don't know if Danae Jones is a hack or not... I don't even know what a hack is supposed to be?? But at least she is prepared to put her money where her mouth is and go for something she believes in. What do you do, when you are not offering insights to your narrow view of the world, Media Critic?

Geez, I love these armchair critics who sit in the anonymity of their living rooms throwing stones from the sidelines. I don't know if Danae Jones is a hack... I don't even know what a hack is supposed to be?? But it seems to me she is a young woman prepared to put her money where her mouth is and go for something she believes in. What do you do, Media Critic, when you are not offering insights to your own narrow view of the world??
