Spot the diff: Queensland Party Vs the rest

According to The Queensland Party, their structure is different from the other major parties for three key reasons...
  • The party is based in Queensland and will work only for Queensland.
''This means the Queensland Party can truly represent Queensland. The other parties' state branches are secondary to their federal branches. This results in premiers and opposition leaders who are unable to criticise poor policy from Canberra because they need to toe party lines.''

  • The party acknowledges there may be times when elected representatives will vote against party policy to voice the interests of their constituents.
''The Queensland Party also believes every vote is a conscience vote. This means the Queensland Party encourages debate and believes robust argument is the best way to improve policy. The Queensland Party expects each member of parliament to represent their electorates on every issue, from daylight savings to asset sales. The Party also believes the last thing Queenslanders need are politicians that lock up their conscience for some bills but not for others.''

  • The Queensland Party leadership rests in a combined vote of the parliamentary party and the party membership.
''This means the Queensland Party is truly stable and democratic. Party members are given a voice during a leadership contest, preventing factions in the party room from gaining power. This also means the leader of the Queensland Party has a responsibility to listen to grass-roots members, unlike the other major parties.''

I'd vote for Anna Bligh before I'd even consider voting for a party led by Aidan McLindon. I thought Springborg was only ever interested in his own career, well Aidan's even worse. Hard to believe, but true.

...and I bet you'd support the maniacal Paul Freebody who your mob chose!!

Tyson Hayter said...

I'm not a Cairns voter, so I don't have to worry about him.

Michael P Moore said...

why didn't the Al Em Pee approach Moller or Beer or even KB again??
i mean Freebody has got zip appeal to the community and he gets joy out of giving death threats to me and others that challenge him. Bizzaire to say the very least

I think Aidan has done a great job... I have been involved with the Libs since birth, my father was on the State executive and Campaign director for Jim Killen, Don Cameron and Sam Doumany (the first Queensland Muslim attorney General) and I can assure you, the Libs and Nats in Queensland are not even a shadow of their past.

i feel sorry that Katrina - as campaign manager - has to defend that idiot there's some amazing people out there that should have been pursued and nominated

Haha. All Aidan and his wife could talk about the first time I met them was his failed run for parliament at the age of 19 or however old he was and 'how close he came.' He went straight into council and then into parliament, he's got no real life experience and is just as bad as the hacks Labor parachutes in straight from being Ministerial Staffers and Union officials.

Did you run for parly when you were 19 Tyson? How many times has Wendy run now? ;-)

Brendan, Shld have asked me:

1. My heart says ALP
2, My head says LNP (Can Do Factor) ......... No more QP after the election (prob a poor outcome for democracy). .............. never mind.

Michael P Moore said...

Rob, you've confused the QLD Party and that other one ... North Qld Party....??

Rob Pyne said...

No Mike .. the NQP never existed .... QP at least cleared the first hurdle and managed to get registered at a party!!!

Rob Pyne said...

‎"as" a political party .. if we had had more parties ... we may have had enough interest to have a party!

move to Woree and vote Rob .... a few times ....PLEASE!!!!

Tyson Hayter said...

Haha, you've got no worries about getting reelected. Val, however, shouldn't even bother trying.

Rob Pyne said...

Tyson, visit Woree SHS often and the similarities with Smithfield SHS are obvious ... I see my people, I see myself ... and I feel useful.

Choice is always a good thing. People can't be pigeon-holed anymore so giving them options that suit their future design for the region can't be a bad thing. I am not too fussed on the Qld Party but luckily for me......I live in Australia and can vote for whomever I like!

A very big DITTO from me Leigh on your comments. Thumbs up

Well I have voted Liberal, National, Labor, Democrat and Green and I have voted in every election since I turned 18. I adored Paul Keating and his humour, I actually think Beattie even got a few votes from me over the years but I still don't get this "Voting For The Team" mentality where you MUST vote Liberal/Labor because of a paid membership like the local footy club. I wish the world was choc-a-bloc full of informed swing voters!

Well im voting for the first time in any election..at State it will be a tough choice..at council ill be voting for someone who can get soltuions, and put these solutions quickly into place..so I guess I'll be voting for myself.
