The Obama Cabinet

David at KiwiBlog welcomes the strong Cabinet, that President-elect Obama is constructing.
  • "He has wisely abandoned his pre-election rhetoric about change, and stolen half the former Clinton Administration, including the Clintons! Also has abandoned the nonsense about just fleeing from Iraq by keeping on Bush’s Secretary of Defence. So who are the appointments:

    Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
Brillant for Obama as neutralises them, forces Bill to have his diary vetted, and his administration gets to benefit from the massive set of contacts the Clintons have internationally.

    Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

Emanuel is an economic liberal (anti regulation) and a very tough politician. Those who think Obama will pursue a socialist agenda, should look at Emanuel’s record. Of course Obama promised all sorts of socialist stuff, but he doesn’t actually have to deliver on that as people will love him anyway. Emanuel also voted for the Iraq War and doesn’t blame Israel for all the problems in the Middle East. He’s not a Republican, but he’s my sort of Democrat.

    Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.
Geithner is President of the New York Federal Reserve. He actually arranged the Bear Stearns bailout, and is a very experienced choice for these times

Peter Orszag is the Office of Management and Budget Director. He currently heads the Congressional Budget Office and even blogs from there! A bit left for my liking but definitely experienced.

As previously mentioned Defence Secretary Robert Gates will remain in office - the first ever Defence Secretary to do so across parties. Gates was CIA Director under Bush 41.

Attorney-General Eric Holder has a very good career in his early days but blotted his copybook with involvement in the disgraceful Clinton pardon of Marc Rich. I suspect he will not last a full term.

Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano is to be Homeland Security Secretary and is well regarded as a competent Governor. Homeland Security is huge though and will be a challenge.

Bill Richardson as Commerce Secretary is another former Governor. Very sensible making use of people with executive experience. Plus it is a reward for him for deserting the Clintons.

Tom Daschle I do not like. A nasty man. I think Secretary of Health and Human Services is beyond him and like Mrs Clinton he will fail at healthcare reform.
Absolute genius to appoint Paul Volcker to head a Economic Recovery Advisory Board, Volcker is a God.

General James Jones is inspired choice for National Security Advisor. Jones is a four star Marine General and has served as Supreme Allied Commander Europe and as Commandant of the Marine Corps. Condi Rice tried to get him to be Deputy Secretary of State. He declined but has done work in the Middle East for her.

So far, so good for Obama. Of course the real challenges lie ahead.

Hey Mike,
Your "buddy" at "Kiwi Blog"? He's a thief.

He didn't write one word of this - he's stolen it from elsewhere. Dickhead.

At least you attributed it to someone. He's an crook.

Hi Clifton.

Very intemperate language! I was moved to do a quick check myself, selecting blocks of text from the article and entering it - in inverted commas - in Google. I can't - on that basis - confirm your claim of plagiarism. So if you insist it has been plagiarized, why not tell us where and provide a hyperlink?

However, I do think the assessment is very, very strange, however. What are we to make of "He has wisely abandoned his pre-election rhetoric about change"?!!!

The appointment of Rahm Emanuel - no 1 position to be announced - is dismal. It must be reversed. Doesn't the USA even pretend to care about its own national security any more? See Mossad Measuring the Drapes?

Syd, either Kiwiblog also has another persona or the first commentater is correct! Go to page 2 of the link (at least as of this morning) and scroll down! Verbatim!

More important than plagiarism is that both analyses are bullshit! The incoming administration may well be better than the last but rather than the gushing praise from the acolytes these appointments deserve more more pointed criticism!

As indeed you have suggested Syd :)

Although .... the motivation for your own criticism Syd would appear somewhat disgusting and different from mine?

Juden raus, Syd, juden raus!!

Rahm Emanuel is the among the worst of the Israel firsters that have led America to disaster these last ten years. His presence alone tells me that Obama is just another in a long line of corrupted or corruptable stooges.

Hi KitchenSlut

Re: plagisrism. if you click the article heading link, on the page you referred me to, it points to Kiwiblog. In other words, it seems to me - on that basis - the primary source was Kiwiblog. That site is a news aggregator. Of course, Kiwi may have pinched it from elsewhere - but I couldn't find an earlier instance of the article than his. Perhaps you can?

On the issue of whether my criticism of Rahm Emanuel is out of line, you're entitled to your opinion.

My opinion, FWIW, is that if the US President appoints somebody as Chief of Staff who seems a fairly obvious foreign (Israeli) agent, it's OK to comment about that. Other people hold a less lenient view, which may go someway to explaining deep pentration of successive US Administrations by pro-Israel extremists.

The US people demand change, a new President is elected... and the result is a new group of Zionists in power. Critical comments on that topic not are allowed, you think? I think they ARE allowed. Actually, they are most necessary.

The absurd imperial foreign policy of the USA is gradually bankrupting the country and causing mayhem in several parts of the world. It is the direct consequence of this Zionist bias. If you doubt this, read Walt and Mearsheimer for starters.

The struggle against folk like Emanuel, for me at least, has nothing to do with bigotry, as you seem to insinuate. It has to do with power and policy.

My article about Emanuel, of course, discussed only Obama' Chief of Staff appointment. Stephen Lendman did an overview of the cabinet as a whole that's worth a read - see Obama's War Cabinet.

It's also worth pointing out that America's foreign policy would matters somewhat less to Australians if our Governments didn't inist we also tag along on so many of that nation's imperial adventures.

If we're going to play Deputy Sheriff, it behoves us to keep an eye on the big guy (and his peculiar 'friends').
