Don't do a Byrne, Geelong

Geelong regional councils are being encouraged to support and sign up for a Cairns-like waste-disposal system, reports the Geelong Advertiser.

The disastrous Bedminster system at Portsmith, which is designed to cut the amount of material going to landfill by 75%, has cost us millions in breakdowns, not to mention the stink over the Southern and inner city suburbs.

Barwon Regional Waste Management Group wants DiCom to have the job, who would roll out the same system which is far from proven.

The now troubled CEC, who have just posted a 33 million pre-tax loss, came to the financial rescue and bought the Portsmith operation. Bet they're glad they did that now!

Settle down Michael ... your obsession regarding ret. Major Byrne has me worried.
Your hatred for this man leads you to some silly and untrue facts.
The Bedmister deal was sown up in Tom's day, Now you now who Tom is, he's your friend Robert Pyne's dad.
KB inherited it.
He gave job to sort it out to the General Manager Cairns Water ... and why not?
He was involved with the original deal.
Anyway ... after 3 years the GM got sacked and the costs to run the operation was taken of the ratepayer shoulders by CEC. Thanks KB.

Now Michael, go get some professional help regarding this obsessive hatred towards your nemises, Kevin Byrne.

He's moved on.

Oxymoronic tautologies like 'untrue facts' are always a worry. Not to be confused with just plain moronic things like Major Byrne.

Sounds like that guy from Cairns Water was the one who got the rough end of the pineapple! Appointed by KB to solve it and then sacked after 3 long years when it couldn't be sorted. If there was a problem identified in the original deal and his involvement then why did KB appoint him?

Wow, CEC now operate it free to ratepayer? Thanks Roy, but no wonder you have financial problems?

KB is MM's nemises? Is this a plural of nemesis and there are 2 KB's succulently chomping their way through the profits of local restuaranteurs?

It isn't clear in what context a loser can be a nemesis unless quickie can elaborate? Absent explanation i will rely on this definition from the free online dictionary.

1. A source of harm or ruin: Uncritical trust is my nemesis.

Who said KB appointed the GM? He inherited him with the Bedmister baggage.
That particular GM was a left over from the pre-amalgamation days.
And did you know that, Don Fry (NQEA), always maintained he could design, build and run a waste management system similar to the Bedmister process ... and it would be reliable.
NQEA tendered for the project.

What a shame Tom's Labour Council chose otherwise ...

"Who said KB appointed the GM?"

Ummmm .... well actually I think you did quickie? This is what you said just a few minutes ago:

"KB inherited it.
He gave job to sort it out to the General Manager Cairns Water ... and why not? He was involved with the original deal."

Mate, are you OK tonight or do you want the lifeline number?

Oh dear ... now we are down to semantics.

Typical left wing way of debating.
Pick on the quality of how it's delivered and ignore the substance.
It'sa sorta pommie way of debating. (Oxford - Cambridge)
Are you recently from the UK Thersites?
Back to reality.

Tom's man who walked the walk (with respect to the smelly waste disposal system), was later to become a General Manager.
After 3 years of non-delivery Mayor Byrne said ... enough's enough, (wot a funny language), and passed the deal over to CEC.
A brilliant decision.

Those were the days, the days when Council had a leader, and a leader who lead.

Semantics? Mate, what you said seemed pretty clear and very unsemantic ... you seem to substantially contradict yourself with every post?

You have gone from: "KB inherited it.
He gave job to sort it out to the General Manager Cairns Water ... and why not?"

To now: "Tom's man who walked the walk (with respect to the smelly waste disposal system), was later to become a General Manager."

Give us a break mate .... there are NO semantics in there!!

Thersites is not from the UK as per your diversionary debating game to cover your own stupidity ...... although did spend some time there recently (for the first time since his ancestors popped out for a visit on the 2nd fleet and decided to hang about)sampling Cornish Ale.

Thersites has been called many things in his life but never left wing, having been more usually pilloried as an economic rationalist (not to be confused with a rent seeking corporatist like KB).

Actually, Thersites has never voted ALP ever! Although that may be an outcome were KB ever to run under an LNP banner!

I'll rephrase two sentences into one to help you, Thersites ...

"He gave job to sort it out to the General Manager Cairns Water who was involved with the original deal ... and why not?"

Now is that clearer for you, Thersites ?
... jeeez !!
