We really are the dumb State

Anna Bligh has admitted that she's purchased www.queensland-the-dumb-state.com, among a heap of other web names.

Yesterday in fire-fighting mode in Parliament, the State Labor government said it was to protect them from cybersquatters.

It was former Premier Beattie's idea to call Queensland a "Smart State", a move bound to attract ridicule.

A quick domain check, and the following are available, as low as $0.99 a year...

Any more ideas?

Do you think Queensland is becoming dumber and dumber with all the Mexicans pouring in? You know the ones who say "bags" instead of "port" and "porch" instead of "landing"? I mean, Christ almighty they don't even know the English language....

The Brisbane Times article says:

The Queensland premier's department has revealed it owns 38 web domain names, including www.queensland-the-dumb-state.com.

"The cost of registering the 38 domains, some of which are the same site with different variations of the same address, is $1,646 a year."

I would like to know who is charging the Government an average of $43 per domain. Is this a free tender? If so, I think the Premier's Department should give me a call. I may be a middleman but I won't rip them off that much.

I wonder what they pay for a cup of coffee?

I notice that the domain queensland-the-dumb-state.com is hosted with a placeholder page by Oversee.net.

Perhaps these are the greedy bastards who charge the Queensland Government an average of $40+ per domain?

Then I realized the company is headquartered in Los Angeles. My anger has subsided. I now realize this is just one of the many ways Queensland is trying to assist the bankrupt State of California in its time of need.

It's a wise investment. Who'd want boat people from LA turning up on the Queensland coastline, demanding free health-care and other perks of civilization?

Anna is definitely right to do what she can for the cactus Californian economy. She has my full support. Why don't we pay them $1,000 a pop for domains we don't need?

I didn't see the domain "Cairnsblog.com" on their list. Maybe Cairns Council has bought that one up . .

Ah CBD Warrior is back with his incredible humour, political knowledge and cutting remarks that we all look forward to. Sadly there is no originality and he continues to "yawn" stick to the same boring topics which is:
Attack the Cairns Blog
Defend Alan Blake
Attack anyone who dares to criticise Alan Blake
Why not give us something new that we can get our teeth into CBD and then you might find yourself getting some value out of the Cairns Blog.

Heheh, good point Syd. The Californian economy is cactus alright. See where the latest unemployment figures for the USA are estimated to be closer to 20%.

Found that gold chain yet Fabio? (I mean CBD Warrior).

Jan, I spoke to the house cleaner the other day. She said that Fabio's alias Allan Blake, gold chain was found on Kerie's bedside table.
She seems to think because of its light weight that it is possibly fake!

Or it's part of that valuable Jewellry and Cash that was stolen from his house some time ago.

Thornton On Blake said...

How appropriate. Light weight and fake.....applies perfectly to CBD Warrior aka Fabio aka Alan Blake.

Guido the Plumber said...

Every community has its fakes. Unfortunately Cairns has Alan Blake who resembles fools gold...shiny but without substance. It seems as if the
CBD Warrior has taken the place of Factman. Remember him?
Like the morning fog, it burns away when the sun rises.
CBD Warrior, Alan Blake, ex The Factman, Fabio and their adherents are all tarred with the same brush.
They flourish like thieves in the night and work under the cover of darkness.
The best way to exposed those leeches is focus the spot light on them and expose them for what they really are.
Thanks for the spot light that the Cairns Blog is!

Thornton On Spence said...

Thanks for that Guido. I had completely forgotten about Factman. Have you noticed how CBD Warrior goes underground when he gets some ridicule. I wonder if like his hero Alan Blake he wears those little singlets that make him look much more muscled than his puny little body really is.
Come on CBD Warrior lets dook it out on the Blog and give us all some laughs or are you too busy meeting your electorate on the Esplanade.

Guido the Plumber said...

Thorton you make me laugh.
CBD Warrior does have the propensity to cast the stone then go underground. Perhaps he blogs in between texting, doing a Warney in other words.
I've never seen CBD Warrior/Alan Blake in a little singlet but I can well imagine how he would look in a pair of tight jocks, a level playing field indeed.
At least The Factman occasionally would be rational but CBD Warrior has a consistency of fairy floss, doesn't have much substance and kind of melts when the heat comes on!

Sheeeesh, I think the only thing anyone has to worry about is if Thaddeus rigs himself up in a little singlet and tight jocks......

Cairns resident waiting for a better health service said...

You cannot get any dumber than this....

Queensland Health recently announced a restructure in one of its major units.

They annouced that there would be 6new reporting areas not one as there is currently.

That was two weeks ago and staff are all wondering what is going on. When staff ask, they are told, that it is all being worked out now and that they will all be told in due course......

So in other words, this decsion was not a strategic one involving forward planning and widespread consultation and the like. It was done on the run and now they QH are trying to put round balls into square holes.

Say no more.......

KitchenSlut said...

Strategic? Planning? Oh dear Cairns Resident are you serious or delusional?

I am personally aware of ALP left operatives who have continued to get public service jobs based on political connections. In fact they were happy to accept the social gratitide of Jason O'Brien with some post election reward social conviviality at the PD Yacht Club?

And hey .... they also spent time at taxpayers expense luvey-dovey on Cape York with their departmental boyfriend? Blakey is not unique you know? Many local ALP aficionados should consider this I reckon?

Lest we forget!

KitchenSlut said...

Oops! I did mean to confirm for context that those politically connected factional positions were in Qld Health.
