Two men in a leaky Chilly Bin

This will have to go down as one of the most amazing stories of 2009, without doubt.

Two men aged 22 and 24 years, were picked up today in the Torres Strait, northwest of Horn Island, after being afloat for nearly a month in an Esky (us Kiwis call them Chilly Bins).

The Burmese sailors said their boat sank in late December. The immigration-friendly Rudd government said they would be transferred to 'an alternative place of detention' when they get out of hospital. "It will not be a detention centre but possibly a motel room," the immigration department said. Would Johnny Howard has done this?

They were due out of Thursday Island hospital late today. And their first meal? Fish soup, followed by some lightly deep-fried Barra.

Yes, quite amazing, but Mike - shouldn't that be spelt "Chully Bunn"??

Both should put on plane ASAP back to Burma or maybe the USA to join in the Obama festivities! Or better yet let's just open all borders and let the whole world in! I think that's what Krudd is doing anyway!
