Is it a bird or a.... well, what is that on the Cairns Esplanade?!

Here's Kahuku: A Butterfly Romance.

This is the a unique all-female performance flying show, by New Zealand-based Empress Stiltdance, have arrived in town for the Cairns Festival that kicks off this Friday, just in time to distract the election.

Empress has performed in 16 countries and employs 35 stilt dancers. They open the Cairns Festival's Circus Arts Spectacular at 6pm on 26 and 27 August. Anyone can sneak a p[eek at their rehearsals, every afternoon on the Northern Esplanade, across the road from the hospital.

The Cairns Festival runs from this Friday 20th August to 5th September.
