This is a rort! Can anyone tell me what Cairns and the State of Queensland is getting for their $750k. It appears that we are paying staff wages and operating expenses for three years, for a vessel that is owned by a West Australia Foundation. The vessel has to go south for the wet season, so no benefit for Cairns during that time. The sailing schedule shows appearances in Sydney, and Hobart with it not returning to Cairns until May. In the meantime the ratepayers are footing the bill. AFter the 3 years are up it is returning to Western Australia. According to the Council Minutes, “The Support of the Duyfken in Queensland Project" is to broaden the cultural and tourism base of the City”. How???
