If you look at the detail about the current returns, there is no doubt Val Schier has won this election.
ReplyDeleteWhile it's currently virtually tied, Clifton Beach and Port Douglas have not yet reported. Both are going to be heavily Val.
Mayor Byrne will have proven to make a major blunder, calling the residents in Clifton Beach "wankers" and "ratbags". This is the salient fact that has lost him reelection.
Who's the ratbag now?
At this stage, it does look like Val has won the Mayoralty. Too early yet to know who all the Councillors will be, but it looks like only two of the Unity Team elected at present.
