I can't recall ever cheering so loudly as when we heard John Howard had lost his seat to Maxine McKew. The roof just about lifted at Brothers Leagues Club. What a victory and oh, what a sweet victory! Here I sit today with a sore throat and swollen glands, no doubt from all the cheering and jubilant chants of "Workers united, will never be defeated!" What a historic day....the working people of Australia came out in force to support their unions and their rights at work. What a message we have sent to the conservative parties and to the world! AUSTRALIA RECLAIMS ITS CHARACTER!!
