None of the smooth concrete walls in this tunnel. Bare rock with water streaming down the sides. I likened the trip from Te Anau to Milford Sound like finding Shangri-La. The leaving of the fertile green valley, passing the DO NOT STOP - AVALANCHES signs along the way, the climb up to the Homer Tunnel, with towering mountains either side, the drive through the tunnel and coming out on the other side with an awe inspiring vista of Milford Sound below. The zigzag road down to the bottom, and best of all, smugly knowing that YOU are the only one on the bus with the insect repellant.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7878592054777492431.post-53824129143771225492007-10-19T19:20:00.000+10:002007-10-19T19:20:00.000+10:002007-10-19T19:20:00.000+10:00Thanks Jude J, I'll do that. That way you can enjoy the spectacular scenery without running off the road. When you get to the scary bits you can also close your eyes. Don't forget to take the insect repellant and put it on before you leave the bus. The sandflies are huge.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7878592054777492431.post-44883396371467282622007-10-16T18:06:00.000+10:002007-10-16T18:06:00.000+10:002007-10-16T18:06:00.000+10:00Someone has lost the plot here and I dont think it...Someone has lost the plot here and I dont think its Mike.
Enjoy your holiday !!mandy moonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7878592054777492431.post-7753889937812642182007-10-16T15:38:00.000+10:002007-10-16T15:38:00.000+10:002007-10-16T15:38:00.000+10:00Oh.. grow up "no more politics" Mike's travelling...Oh.. grow up "no more politics" Mike's travelling .. so can't you get a grip mate!Johno at the beachesnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7878592054777492431.post-49485223296999161512007-10-16T13:18:00.000+10:002007-10-16T13:18:00.000+10:002007-10-16T13:18:00.000+10:00Is it better to catch a bus from Te Anau to Milfor...Is it better to catch a bus from Te Anau to Milford Sound or is it better to drive yourself there?Dilemmanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7878592054777492431.post-37453718604508893912007-10-16T08:29:00.000+10:002007-10-16T08:29:00.000+10:002007-10-16T08:29:00.000+10:00methinks the change from political activist blog t...methinks the change from political activist blog to milquetoast travel blog is Michael Moore rolling over to Kevin Byrne's threats.

Screw your NZ travelogue.no more politicsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7878592054777492431.post-43488930226730949692007-10-16T08:19:00.000+10:002007-10-16T08:19:00.000+10:002007-10-16T08:19:00.000+10:00I like this Kiwi-land stuff.
