Has anyone bothered in the tourism industry to check what Jetstar says about Cairns. Introducing Cairns Mangrove boardwalks and croc-infested rivers by the airport, busy retail areas bursting with Ken Done clothes and stuffed koalas, and a unique tropical air make Cairns a spread-out city of surprises. The beautifully designed and perfectly located lagoon on the Esplanade is an attempt to make up for the fact that waterfront Cairns doesn’t actually have a beach, and when the sun comes out so do locals and backpackers, creating a bikini-clad mirage in the city centre. Cairns can be a boom or bust town, depending on who’s flying whom in; Japanese and Korean tourists are well catered for, and everyone’s offered a good ol’ Aussie time in the nightclubs and hostels. It’s a city where the casino doubles as a rainforest, and you can walk straight from the nightclub to the pier and catch one of the many morning boats that make the daily island or reef, diving or snorkelling pilgrimage.
For a moment there I thought that Vince was having a lend of us....so I went to the Jetstar website to see what the truth was. Lo an behold the quote was verbatim...really scary, might someone at TTNQ have a word to your Jetstar mates next time you catch up for a drinks and ask them to put something a bit more positive on their website thanks
It actually sounds like a reasonably accurate description of Cairns to me! For some reason Jetstar now consider Cairns to be a subsidiary of Port Douglas. And the word is "renowned", Mike :-)
We are aware that for some hours on Saturday morning 9 April 2011, Cairns was temporarily missing from our booking system on our new Jetstar.com website.
This temporary issue was associated with the cutover to our improved website and has now been fully repaired.
Our customers had full access to our call centre while we attended to this matter so we do not expect it caused significant concerns. However we do apologise for any inconvenience caused.
We’re confident that all our customers will appreciate the improvements we've delivered to make the website even more user friendly while also giving it a fresh new look.
Just spotted your article and assume it refers to the blurb on their site. I have been writing to everyone about this and thought I was getting their attention.....maybe the results are coming from you! Or perhaps there actually IS someone at TCP paying attention. Either way, they had better fix it NOW!

Thank You Jetstar for finally fixing up the write up. How about you give some of the local business's some flights to give away?

Bit of a worry especially after reading Vince's comment on your blog. What does Jetstar actually say about Cairns?
