Tonight's Jazz under the Stars cancelled due to rain

Jazz under the Stars in the Cairns Botanic Gardens tonight, has been cancelled due to weather.

"I regret to advise that tonight's Jazz Under the Stars has been cancelled due to inclement weather," Judi Corcoran, secretary Friends of Botanic Gardens told CairnsBlog. "The Bureau have advised that the rain is likely to continue into the evening."

President of FOBG David Rentz, says he hopes to reschedule the event for another date.

"We apologise for any inconvenience, and know that many will be disappointed. We will do our best to reschedule the concert for another day -weather and musicians willing," David Rentz said.

The Cairns Festival event, organised by Friends of the Gardens and Cairns Tropic Jazz Club, is a festival favourite, with the cream of local musicians and vocalists. The internationally-acclaimed Jim Black and Julie McLaughlin, TAKE 5, Victoria Boxall, along with Julie Hibberd, Cool Change, Bob Howlett Sextet, Rob Williams and the Vegas Ban, were all scheduled to take part.

A portent perhaps of the coming you beaut gee whiz 20,000 seat footie/entertainment stadium of Entsch's for Cairns?
Wonder how long it will be before the kids start whingeing about the heat, the rain, the fights etc.
Then again, I wonder how long it will be before there is a major accident at the old and decrepit Cairns Civic Theatre? Tradies have been saying for yonks it isn't in a good state.
