Crime Stoppers update

Trio charged over weekend assault, Manoora
Detectives from the Cairns Child Protection and Investigation Unit have charged three people in relation to the assault of a 35-year-old man in Miles Street on Friday evening. A boy aged 16 and two men aged 17 and 18, all of Manoora, were charged with assault occasioning bodily harm whilst in company. The 16-year-old will be dealt with under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act and the two men are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later this month and in November.

Burglary offences, Woree & Cairns North
Detectives are investigating two burglary offences that occurred in the Cairns area in recent days. Thieves targeted a Grafton Street residential unit overnight on Sunday and stole a quantity of jewellery as well as a mobile phone, cash and a designer handbag. In a separate incident, thieves gained entry to a Coral Close residence at Woree in the early hours of Monday morning and stole a quantity of jewellery and a handbag containing a sum of money.

Theft from unlocked vehicle, Edge Hill
Police are reminding residents to be vigilant with home and vehicle security after thieves stole a handbag from an unlocked vehicle in Woodward Street at Edge Hill. The offence occurred at about 1.00pm after the victim had left her car parked in the driveway with the engine running.
