The defensiveness of Ms Ren Nel is understandable given that Mr Warren has credited her with his facebook page presumably because he was incapable himself? Be proud Rennee it is an extreemly (sic)good effort in context of such a lamentable subject.

ReplyDeleteWow Kirsten, you've stirred up all of Warren's Facebook friends. I too would have thought the old bloke would have given some attention to his spelling, but then he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. More importantly, I want to know what's happening with his Indian Mynah eradication plan for Cairns. Remember that folks? Warren had the brilliant idea of contributing (some of) his electorate allowance to fund a new you-beaut trapping scheme to rid us of these pests. The announcement got a Cairns Post headline and then typically ... it was never heard of again! Wazza, in the unlikely event you get another term at the trough, could you revisit this 'core promise'.

ReplyDeleteBy the way, I am a little taken aback at the immature attacks on Kirsten Lesina. It doesn't matter how old she is, she's been doing a fantastic job in my division. She is approachable and receptive and is a woman of action. I've had issues that have needed attention and she has always been supportive and helpful. For that I thank her. My previous councillor, Kevin Byrne's Kathy Plath, was hopelessly unresponsive. Plath's age and experience counted for nothing when I had real issues and needed help.

Yeah, why doesn't Warren comment on his role in CEC? And while he is at it, what role did they play in the costs blowing out on the Clean Waters requirement, thus causing the rise in our rates????
ReplyDeleteGo easy on Kirsten, she is a young woman giving public life a go. She simply made an observation, on a blog, in her own time, about something as inconsequential as a typo. But look at the outpouring of vitriol! It seems a completely disproportionate response to me.

ReplyDeleteThornton, I think that Kirsten will be judged on more significant things than a comment concerning a typo on a Facebook page. All I advocate for is some sense of proportion to the responses.

Whatever you think they should be, remember this; Kirsten was elected, not appointed. And considering the alternative - one Paul Freebody - the electorate made a very smart choice.
ReplyDeleteThornton, the young ones haven't learned to be manipulative, cunning, evasive, and adept at "double-speak" etc. The crafty and disengenuous traits we see in older politicians takes time to develop. The young with their bright eyed, bushy tailed idealism, and lack of guile and cunning are a breath of fresh air.

Qualifications, Thornton on Spence?
ReplyDeleteI think you will find that Cr Lesina has tertiary qualifications.
You might also find that all the Cairns Labor politicians, federal and state, have tertiary qualifications.
You might also find that Stench is the odd man out.
I believe that literacy and numeracy are essential qualifications for leadership.
They help to mount an argument rather than rely on vile comments such as those from Roget's Thesaurus, and the name-calling of Thornton on Spence, Ren Nel, Constance Lloyd, Aggrived (see what I mean?) Ratepayer and Bring Back KB.
But I suppose now that the LNP has reached the dregs at the bottom of the barrel for members and candidates we shouldn't expect anything more from them.
Just checked..."friends" are now numbering 63. What's that quote about keeping your friends close but your enemies closer? A friend by any other name....

ReplyDeleteAnd please, contrary to previous statements on this blog the LNP in FNQ is growing strongly. And before you ask, yes I am well placed to make that statement.
The comment by Master's Apprentice that the LNP has reached the dreggs for membership is yet another example of just how much these haters on both sides of politics have in common. Their minds closed a long time ago, and that is a shame.

I was just pointing out that maybe Kirsten should be commenting on more important issues rather than something so minor (maybe it was a little strongly worded and for that I apologise, it was rude). I just feel that all politicians no matter their affiliation or age should be respectful and bypass such pettiness. I expect this as much from those of my party as any other.

It’s bad enough that the LNP up here would go back to lick up its own vomit like this, and then I saw the LNP’s “new” front bench – the oberfuehrers who would be giving Corporal Stench his orders.
There’s something seriously wrong with the LNP when it serves up losers like Stench as a candidate, and puts other Howard-era nutters and extremists like Browyn Bishop, Kevin Andrews, Phillip Ruddock and Eric Abetz on the front bench.
The reason so many people are leaving the LNP in Cairns is that it has become a front for the Looney Right and the National Party (same thing, really).
Having Stench as their candidate, and now this misbegotten clutch of neanderthal fruitcakes on their front bench, is going to be the last straw for more of them.

I’m pleased to be able to oblige concerning the LNP candidate for Leichhardt:
1. The Cape York Concrete scam.
2. His more recent foray into illegal squatting in Mareeba while Federal Member.
3. The vast sums he squandered on an overseas jaunt at taxpayer expense immediately before he retired.
4. His contemptuous behaviour by working as a director of CEC while he was Member for Leichhardt, rather than working for his constituents.
5. Being a director of the company that has despoiled False Cape and one of whose contract employees was killed at work.
I’m sure there are more. Contributions, please.
Odd how the right of politics always hankers for the past. A regurgitated Entsch now comes with lots of baggage and a good few less brain cells than in his earlier incarnation. I'm not sure what an exhumed political corpse such as he can contribute to the electorate. I suspect zilch, and if this is the best the LNP can come up with, they are in deep trouble.

ReplyDeleteWe will see what happens come election day. If Entsch is as bad as you all say he is, then Turnour should have no problems accounting for him and increasing his majority.
For mine, I think Turnour has a number of weaknesses and Entsch knows what they are. Turnour is propped up only by the support for Rudd, which is slowly but surely heading south. Turnour doesnt have much of a support base in his own right. Turnour is vulnerable, especially to a character such as Entsch.
Should make for an interesting election.
Turnour does have a number of weaknesses and the dumb observation that Entsch knows what they are doesn't make him a suitable replacement in Leichhardt? We all know what Jims flaws are! That doesn't make Wazza good rather than just less bad .... maybe?
ReplyDeleteThere is a fundamental dichotomy in the Entsch claim that he represents Leichhardt and not the LNP. His claim on this is bullshit since he has more recently become a party apparatchik apeing Santo Santo and playing his games in the party and not the community as he once did?
His last PR is total support for Abbo but anyone knows that it was his mate Joe Hockey who was his biggest supporter for a return in Leichardt so ..... so where is Wazza on the EMT? With Abbo or Joe? Is he with Leichardt as he claims or up the party's backside as seems obvious?
Lets not even begin on Wazza's role in failing to effect renewal in the LNP and backing John Howard all the way to block any Costello succession right to the end. Quite possibly the most stupid failure in Australian political history and indicative of the kind of sycophantic personal flaws evident also in the hopeless ALP in NSW? Well done Wazza what a guru!!
So what have you got right strategically? Or do we need the Santoro echo's to respond?
