Mike this guy u have doing ya cartoons is top rate... better the the compost! I hope you're paying him heaps hahha but seriously, it is really great to follow a log website like this and also have clever satire that is biting and in ya face.. something teh Cairns Post don't do at all... whoever is Circusmouse, pass on my best wishes and buy him (or her) a bloodly beer!

Your King-hitter is bereft of ideas, Mark! His stabs at satire are, at best, predictable and puerile, at worst utterly pathetic. Put him out to pasture.

I think CircusMouse is great. The one above is a bit limp, but then, CM has just recovered from the 'flu. Hisher other work is brilliant.

However, I think encapsulated in some of the above comments is a widespread criticism of the "ComPost" as we've grown to know it over the last couple of years, with Mark Alexander as Editor in Chief.

Previous to that, Scott Thompson did a fairly fine job as editor, even lending a hand to environmental/development/planning abuse campaigns. Onyer Scott - where are you? - we want you back.

As I was sipping my early morning cuppa today, reading "The Oz", I noticed a bit of a News Ltd lovefest going on. The News Ltd Chief Executive, John Hartican "... is one old campaigner for fair and honest reporting - warts and all - ..on a wide range of issues".

Now, if Mr. Hartigan, who obviously has the odd cup of tea with Rupert M., is an older journo who loves news, then why is he employing an eejit like Mark A. to head the Compost?

Perhaps News Ltd is so big Mr. H. cannot keep a handle on all their publications. Very possibly.

But the end of this very long entry is: how's about we put together an e-petititon to rid ourselves of Mark Alexander, Gavin K. et al.

Encourage News Ltd. to bring some proper journalistic standards back to the ComPost - not a paper with Doom Death & Disaster on Page 1, & full-page ads from page 3,5,7 &?. Lets get some community news back on the pages - for example, there is no longer a free Community Directory of events. Time Out lists only a bare minimuum of music and artistic pursuits in our community.

You all know the score - what you reckon? E-peitition to Mr. Hartigan. We couldn't do worse.

There was a top writer called King
Whose name had a wonderful ring
But it's since grown apparent
His views are abhorrent
And of real life, he knows not a thing!

I've always dreamed of having a series of boycott 'Cairns Post' days. The only way you'll make the Cairns Post change their way is to hit their bottom line with boycott action. This will force them to reconsider their journalistic qualities. The paper desperatley needs some real investigative journalism and not just rehashed stories that we read first from the CairnsBlog website.

Here, Here Steve! After the Yacht Club saga, I'll be boycotting it permanately. Where on earth did Roger Dickson get his degree? Some third world country I reckon, where you can buy them!
